Having grown up in England, I had gotten used to the media bombardment that occurs around Christmas which seemed to start earlier and earlier each year. Since being in Malaysia, I realised that it also occurs here, but for multiple times – Christmas, Chinese New Year, Diwali and Hari Raya. As a run up to the festivities (which mark the end of the Fasting Month for Muslims) it is customary to hand out Ang Pau packets in a similar vein to the Chinese New Year Red Ang Pau. Our office, therefore issues out a healthy stack of Ang Pau’s to our clients and friends.
Last year I was asked my the office to design the Hari Raya Ang Pau card which you can see here. This year, that tradition continued with a new design that retained the envelope size, but created a different pattern for the container.
After several drafts and mock ups, we agreed to a simple Islamic pattern highlighted by a subtle Silver lining, as seen above.
