Jungle Trek

Having made my decision to leave Malaysia at Christmas, I have suddenly found my second wind in terms of activities and events. The main two culprits for instigating this are colleagues from my office who are determined to show me what I will be missing in a frail attempt to get me to stay.

With my mind already intent on enjoying the last 7 weeks of my Malaysian adventure, I was up to doing things I would not necessarily attempt. Therefore it was a great surprise to all the others at work when I agreed to go on a two-hour jungle trek on a Saturday morning at FRIM.

After this experience, I was left with an urge to keep hiking and try different places. This was satisfied the following Wednesday, when my friend suggested we all go on a Night Hike in Bukit Gasing. Usually known for its gentle stroll, my friend convinced me by suggesting it will be like wandering around in the dark for an hour or so.

When we got there, we realised that we were dangerously underdressed, barely meeting the requirements with a flashlight and a whistle, and insanely unfit. The route that the hiking group took was effectively a 60 to 70 degree pitch for almost three hours! At the end of this hike, my legs felt like they were about to fall off. However, in hindsight I am glad I attempted that as it gave me a magnificent view of KL at the top of the hill even if it did almost kill me.
