Today was storage day. It was also a Sunday – a gloriously warm and sunny Sunday. As I was emptying all my bookshelves and cupboards, I came across certain items that had not seen the light of day in several years. While I was initially inclined to chuck them away, I decided instead to gather them all and showcase the extent of my hoarding skills. It occurred to me that these items essentially sum up the 1990s as seen through my eyes. Among the items found were:
- Two remote controls for a VCR and a Hi-Fi system
- A Portable CD player
- Two Casio calculators – one dead, another working
- 35mm Colour film rolls
- Two bags of marbles
- A Microsoft Windows 98 Upgrade CD
- A broken analogue watch
- A 3.5in Floppy disk
- Three pencil sharpeners
- Assorted electrical cables, including an aerial extension cable and a SCART cable
